Landscape Foreman

Job Summary:

The Landscape Foreman will oversee personnel and daily activities and perform landscaping and related services required to create and maintain safe and attractive grounds.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ability to lead crews at multiple residential and commercial locations. 
  • Trains landscape department workers.  
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the landscaping department. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Uses a variety of tools such as shovels, rakes, or wheelbarrows to complete assignments. 
  • Operates power equipment such as sod stripper, bed edger, rototiller, compactor and a variety of other power hand tools.  
  • Installs and maintains specialty features such as paver patios and retaining walls. 
  • Educates and consults with clients regarding plant selection, care, and costs of additional services and maintenance. 
  • Reads plans to execute the install of landscape designs.  
  • Must have a positive, teamwork-focused attitude and uphold professional standards while on the jobsite.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.  
  • Good understanding of groundskeeping and landscaping practices and procedures. 
  • Ability to work efficiently and thoroughly. 
  • Thorough understanding of how to care for various types of pants and hardscapes. 
  • Ability to operate various types of landscaping power equipment and hand tools.  

Education and Experience:

  • On-the-job training offered. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and pulling.   
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.  
  • Must be physically able to operate heavy equipment and power tools. 
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.

Greenhouse Management

Job Summary: 

Greenhouse Manager has a passion for producing high quality horticulture products that are produced for retail sales or wholesale. The Greenhouse Manager is responsible for the daily operations involved with running our offsite farm location greenhouses.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise employees to make sure they are fulfilling their job requirements for each shift; specifically watering techniques; delegating assignments; and time management. 
  • Coach and provide feedback to grow and develop the team. 
  • Be responsible for the safety, performance, discipline, and well-being of employees working at the Farm location. 
  • Responsible for facilities maintenance and cleanliness of Farm location. 
  • Create a fun and engaging environment where the team feels recognized and communicated with. 
  • Enforce the company’s policies and procedures. 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the production of annuals, herbs, edibles, tropical plants, perennials, tress, fruits, and shrubs.
  • Order plant material, seeds, growing media, containers, fertilizers, tags, and other plant production related supplies.
  • Create planting/seeding schedule and arrange plant shipments according to schedule and seasonal sale deadlines.
  • Prepares space required for planned production.
  • Apply pesticides when needed – certified applicator license required (will pay for licensing).
  • Calibrate injector and greenhouse heating/cooling systems.
  • Assists in development of growing procedures for new species in product lines. Continued expansion of houseplant production.
  • Maintains records of growing techniques and production to be used for review to identify trends and to forecast future space needs.
  • Collaborate with retail store, production, landscaping & wholesale staff on projects and needs.
  • General greenhouse and grounds maintenance.
Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Motivation to develop efficiency and streamline processes.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related POS software.
Education and Experience:
  • 2–4-year degree in Horticulture or related field and 3-5 years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience if required.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role required.
  • Experience with power equipment and vehicles is a plus, on-the-job training is offered.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures, with a fair amount of moisture present.
  • Ability to exert up to 15-50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and 10 pounds of force constantly to lift and more product.
  • Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities.
